About
Sarah E Howson (self portrait)
Hey there everyone! My name is Sarah, and I am a music producer, filmmaker, soundtrack composer, and absolute straight-up guitar obsessive. I live, breathe, and dream about guitars and if you’ve found this website, you probably do too. But being a guitar nerd wasn’t always the case for me.
In high school, our music lessons revolved around the classical guitar. Extra vom. I spent six months saving for an electric guitar instead. The moment I plugged my brand spanking new white Stratocaster knock-job into that carpet-covered amp and let untamed noise reverberate throughout the entire house, I was hooked. I still write punk tunes (omg check out my band White Tees Only), in between long stretches of imposter syndrome and ambient guitar tracks on YouTube.

So why did I create this blog? There are limited guitar spaces dedicated solely to women, and while this website is not a “girls only” space, it’s certainly going to be highlighting us more. It’s only recently that bands like Wet Leg or The Linda Linda’s can make a record and be described as guitarists and musicians and not female guitarists and female musicians. And that’s what Breaking Guitars is going to celebrate and advocate for. Plus, I want to share my knowledge with you. No point learning cool things for twenty years and having no one to pass it on to. You’re welcome!
If you’re interested in connecting on other platforms, there’s social media links at the bottom of every page. Alternatively, comment on the blog or email us with any burning questions you might have. NGL I need the story ideas, otherwise it’s just me writing about the Boss DS-1 in every article.
SEH xo
PS I have no idea why that amp was covered in carpet. One of life's many mysteries, I guess.
